Experience the South Pacific

The Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu is truly an amazing experience. When my Mom came to visit we made it a point to visit and I am so glad that we did! These two pages were created for the Cultural Center. I found two scrapbook challenges at SCS to give me a little inspiration for something unique.

Let's start with the first page. It is very bright, yea? The paper is locally made here in Hawaii and comes from Creative Native Crafts. I made the paisley pieces from a template downloaded via SCS. The title is a laser die-cut from another LSS here on Oahu. I added the yellow to bring out the yellow in the plumeria and a complimentary red card stock to make the whole page pop. Just in case your curious, the people in the photo are Hawaiians :)

The second page uses the same plumeria paper with dark brown card stock as a middle layer. The photos are mounted on Desert Tan card stock as well as the arrow on the right side of the page. The bottom is outlined using a shell lei and the journaling is on Basic White layered on Desert Tan. For these photos left to right is a Tahitian woman, two Tahitian drummers, and quite possibly the funniest Samoan I have ever met.

I love these pages because they are SO BRIGHT. It fits perfectly with the bright and wild clothing of the Polynesian Dancers. If you are ever in Hawaii, please make a point to visit here. Not only is it a great way to experience all of the South Pacific, but the people who work here are students at HPU. Their tuition is paid through the Polynesian Cultural Center. Everyone who visits here helps to put someone through school.
