You Can't Beat Ohana

Hoo-Ray for scrappin! This week's Sketch Challenge at SCS was awesome. A complete different take on what I normally do. The Theme Challenge was to use scraps and goodness knows I have plenty of those lying around! My page is an 8 1/2" x 11" background and is a piece locally made here in Hawaii. That is why it is so bright! The photos are of me and my Mom and the good time we had when she came to visit me. The photos are mounted on scratch white card stock. The borders are red squiggles that I had left over from a pack that I bought almost a year ago! Can't believe I still have those. The title is a die-cut that I had bought about a month ago and had not used. Ohana, if you are interested, is Hawaiian for Family. The flowers, if you remember, are from the sketch challenge last week. I used this first rough sketch to make sure I could accurately draw the floral design. I didn't plan on ever using it, just being a rough draft, but it came out so well I decided to keep it and see what I could accomplish with it. Glad I did since I needed scraps this week! The flowers open up to reveal my hidden journaling. I assembled the page first with the photos, then the borders, then the flowers and last the title. For finishing touches I added faux stitching to the photo mats, glitter and buttons to the flower design. I like this sketch. I am going to have to use it more often.

What a great page, love how you did the butterfly with the journaling.

You had asked me a question regarding my criss cross card and the topper, that is an Stampin Up punch, but sure you could do a circle and fold it in half and it would work just as well.
