Hey everyone. Thanks so much for all the well wishes about my new job. It is going great so far and I love knowing that a paycheck will be coming in. I have been in Denver for 2 1/2 months now and I love it. I am so happy we decided to come here. I am still not used to the cold, but I can now stand (sort of) 60 degree weather. I am very excited to see snow again, although I am not sure I am ready to go outside in it. I will be happy to view it through my window.
Speaking of cold weather and snow, I will definitely experience a white Christmas this year. At least I better! Here are my Christmas cards for the month of September. I made two of each design. One of each design will be sent overseas to our soldiers and the others will available for purchase in my Etsy store. I am doing a very cool project this year called Mission Soldier Support where any card (Christmas or otherwise) purchased in my store from October 1 to November 7 can be sent to soldiers overseas. Simply put MSS or Mission Solder Support in the comments to seller (me) and I will place that card to the side and ship it to our project coordinator with the other cards to be sent overseas. Pretty cool, huh? I am very excited and proud to be a part of this. So, here are my cards. If they are not listed in my shop when you read this, they will be listed soon.
Thanks for stopping by!

Mission Soldier Support
It is time for Mission Soldier Support!
I have a new batch of Christmas cards listed at my store, http://crystalware.etsy.com. One of each design will be sent overseas to our soldiers so they can have handmade greetings to send back to their family.
The others will available for purchase in my Etsy store. I am doing a very cool project this year called Mission Soldier Support where any card (Christmas or otherwise) purchased in my store from October 1 to November 7 can be sent to soldiers overseas. Simply put MSS or Mission Solder Support in the comments to seller (me) and I will place that card to the side and ship it to our project coordinator who will in turn ship a huge bundle of cards overseas. Last year, this project sent over 1700 cards to our soldiers. I think we need to shoot for a new record! Also, the shipping you pay to me will be sent with the card to help with shipping overseas.
So, will you help us break our record?
If you are not interested in purchasing a card from my shop, feel free to send a card of your own. Contact me to let me know you will be sending a handmade Christmas card for Mission Solder Support and I can give you my address.
If you are not into making cards but you would like to contribute a monetary donation please let me know. I will use your monetary donation to create a Christmas card to be sent on your behalf. You can also send a monetary donation to assist with our shipping costs. Again, just contact me for my information. I would be glad to accept money through Paypal which is simple and secure.
I am very excited and proud to be a part of this. So, check out my cards. If they are not listed in my shop when you read this, they will be listed soon.

Think Pink!
We all know it is National Breast Cancer Month so I though Kimmie's color challenge of pink and brown was especially fitting to try out this month. To go along with the colors I found a little MOJO over at Poetic Artistry and used the Monday sketch. I didn't really have anything pink that I could think of until I saw the Limited Supplies Challenge which was no DP, no hardware, basically only paper. That is when I remembered I could use dies from my Sizzix Sidekick. It was quite a long process to come up with the card but I guess that is what all genius cardmakers have to go through :)
The first thing I did was use my Flower Sizzlits Die to cut three flowers, two in pink and one in desert tan. My card base is a 4" x 8" piece of basic white folded in half and layered with a piece of 3 3/4" brown. Now, I'm not a big fan of browns and I thought it was just too little so I used my Flourishes Stamps from Rhonna Ferrer inked in Versamark Black to make my own delightful DP. :) Next I cut a piece of 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" basic black and distressed the edges and rounded the corners. Next I cut a piece of 4" x 3/4" piece of dark brown and used my corner rounder to scallop the bottom. Next I used the decorative scissors to cut a small piece of pink to layer on the top.
To put it together, I layered a pink and tan flower on top of the black and then added the dark brown scalloped piece. The last flower was laid on top. Lastly I used my small circle punch to punch a pink circle, then layer that on top of first a desert tan teardrop and then a larger black teardrop. To add a few details I added a photo corner to the bottom left using this great tutorial from SCS and used a pink glitter gel pen to doodle faux stitching around the edge of the first layer.
This card will be sent to a lady who is indeed suffering from a very rare form of ovarian cancer. I do not know her personally but I know she is very worthy of lots of cyber love! Mahalo for visiting today. I am 4 CD's away from those calenders I have been telling you about!

Another Sketch Challenge
Last Wednesday's sketch challenge at SCS was devoted to a holiday card for a someone that is sending cards to troops. All paper is from Paperbilities with the exception of the gold designer paper from a 6" x 6" paper pack. I started with a card base 4" x 8" folded in half and rounded the corners. I then stamped the snowflake from Stampin Up! Delightful Doodles set in Archival Teal on a piece of white then rounded the corners. I layered that on a piece of red and rounded two opposite corners to give the shape of a Christmas ornament and added a green brad to the center then set aside. I cut a piece of gold designer paper and rounded the corners then tied a piece of blue ribbon around the middle. I used Rhonna Ferrer flourishes stamp set inked in Versamark Black to stamp third generation flourishes on the dp. I adhered that to the card base. I then cut a piece of green 3 3/4" x 1" and used my corner rounder to scallop the edges. I used my Archival Teal to ink the edges. I then cut a piece of basic white 3" x 1/2" and used toilet tissue and the Archival Teal to sponge the white just to tone down the brightness. I layered the white and green then adhered it to the card. I used a blue gel pen to doodle faux stitching along the white.
Next I used dimensionals to adhere the snowflake stamp to the middle of the card. For the sentiment I used a green gel pen to write Happy Holiday on a piece of basic white and then layered that on the dp and drew faux stitching around the edges.

Flower Doodles
Aloha everyone!!! Another card for everyone. This was a sketch challenge for today at SCS with a little inspiration from a fellow stamper. Be sure to check out the sketch HERE. This was the most difficult sketch I have tried. I was a little overwhelmed by all the layers, but what the hay? I decided to give it a try anyway :)This is what I was able to come up with. My camera doesn't do justice for the colors of the card which is pretty upsetting. I hope you can grasp the concept of the soft colors anyway. I started out with a 4" x 4" card this time because I knew it was going in the mail as soon as I finished. The first layer is a plaid designer paper with shades of green and tan. Very adorable :) The second layer is another designer paper approximately 1" wide and barely overlapping the plaid paper. This one was a silver metallic color. Wasn't sure about it but I think it came out okay.
The third layer is a lovely basic lilac. My dimensions for this layer were pretty small so you can adjust your dimensions for the card size that you use. I used a corner rounder punch to round two opposite corners of the layer. The last layer, the two square pieces, is a neutral color; I used desert tan here. Again these dimensions are pretty small because of my card size so feel free to create your own dimensions for both of these. I used the Delightful Doodle flower stamp to stamp a cute pink flower on the top piece in Pink Pastel Color Box ink. This piece was attached with a small brad. The smaller square has a pretty purple flower and the edges are inked with teal archival ink.
I thought this card came out extremely well. I ended up using it for a sentiment card to send to one of our fellow SCS Ladies...Maddy. She is such a talented artist. If you have time please visit her GALLERY
